GET QUOTEMetal Privacy Screen Installation: Prepare the Site

A metal privacy screen order should include more than the panel dimensions. The installer needs to know what the screen will stand on, how it will be secured and which parts arrive in the carton. Resolve those questions before the delivery date.
Record the surface beneath the screen
Photograph the proposed location from a distance and close up. Identify the surface accurately: paving laid over a base is not automatically the same installation condition as a structural concrete slab. For a deck or terrace, provide information about the supporting structure to the person assessing the installation.
Record slopes, nearby drains, changes in level and access restrictions. Check the location of buried services before any ground work. The purpose of this survey is to give the installer enough information to choose an appropriate method, not to select anchors from a photograph.
Request the fixing drawing
Ask for the footprint, fixing-hole positions, panel orientation and required clearances. Clarify whether the quotation includes posts, feet, brackets and fasteners. An image of a complete installation may show items that are not supplied with the panel.
For a row of screens, request a layout identifying end and intermediate supports. Confirm how adjacent panels connect and whether the proposed arrangement is covered by the supplier’s instructions. Do not extend an approved single-panel arrangement into a continuous run by assumption.
The SeeYes Garden metal privacy screen range includes different formats. Their installation requirements need to be checked individually; a planter screen and a panel with feet are not interchangeable specifications.
Assign responsibility for site suitability
Ask who will assess exposure and confirm the fixing method for the actual site. A perforated panel should not be assumed to have a particular wind capacity merely because air can pass through it. Where structural assessment or local permission is needed, resolve it before ordering.
Keep the screen’s intended use clear. A decorative privacy panel is not automatically a fall-protection barrier, pool barrier or load-bearing support. If your project requires any of those functions, obtain a specifically suitable system and supporting documentation.
Prepare a handover checklist
Before work starts, compare delivered parts with the approved drawing. Photograph any transit damage and keep identifying labels. Confirm the sequence for assembly, fixing and any planter filling with the installer.
- Record the installed model and layout.
- Keep the approved fixing details and assembly instructions.
- Identify access points for inspection.
- Obtain the care instructions for the actual finish.
Do not improvise a drilling pattern or substitute fasteners without checking compatibility. A short clarification before installation is preferable to altering finished metalwork on site and discovering that a part no longer fits.
To prepare an installation enquiry, send a site photograph, overall layout, surface information and the proposed number of panels. Ask for a clear list of supplied components and site work that remains the installer’s responsibility.
